If you would like to share your original story here, great! We've just got a couple of guidelines.

Please make a thread with the title as the name of the story you are writing. Then post each chapter as a post in the thread.

If you write for a decent period of time and we like your story, we might invite you to join us on our main site!

That's it. Good luck with your story!

Edit: if you want to create a table of contents that links to each chapter, click the #[number] in the bottom right corner of the message that contains your chapter. That gives you a direct link to your chapter, which you can then add to your first post to make a table of contents.

It is basically the best way, you could give an example for people who doesn't want to have comments etc. in between their chapters, tell them to post 2-3 times in their thread with something like "Post saved for first chapter" "Post saved for second chapter" "Post saved for third chapter" etc. As such it would help much.

Then I would recommend doing one thread in Original Stories, for information and chapter release. 'Ban' comments. Then make a thread in General Novel Discussion, sane title but add DISCUSSION to it. That way it is more convenient. You can ask readers to throw a like on First Post on yout chapters thread for them to show support and that they are reading/keeping up.

    Hi,

just gonna say I am a forum novice so it's very likely I just missed it but when I was setting up my thread I wanted to do as you suggested but could not see how to ban comments on the actual story post. any help would be appreciated.

After reading a few web-novel, I'm interested in writing my own.
Although the story might take various idea from existing novel, could that still be considered original novel?

And if I make a thread in this forum to post my story, is it okay for me to post new chapter irregularly (time-wise) like I might be in mood to write maybe 3 chapter in 2 days, but after that i might go on hiatus for 3 weeks and maybe come back for daily chapter for a week, then maybe gone again.
Is there a rules/limitation for story poster in that kind of things?

I wouldn't see why not we have no obligations to anyone other than ourselves - when writing a novel why would you care when you post it aslong as you do it, if it's enjoyable to write keep writing! If you don't enjoy it stop - why do something you don't like . In other words unless you want obligations there are none xD

Writing is best when you write for yourself. Write a story that you want to write. If others enjoy your writing, that's just an added bonus. As far as I know, there are no limitations on how much you must write or the quality it must be.

    Great then. Thanks.
I just started to write, and can't get very far yet, so far in 12hr, i've just written 1 paragraph.
But I also made a lot of notes, researches, and other stuffs.
I want to make sure the novel I write is never contradicting with what I've written on earlier chapters.
I even make excel to list timeline of when each and every thing would happen in my novel. Like how many day have passed, what event happened that day, what future event is mentioned that day, etc.

A small amount each day is a good start. It builds habit, and doesn't force too much at once. ~flails~ Most of my sickies are gone, so I'm gonna finish chapter two today.

I don't know about the rules, but my personal opinion is the min for a chapter should be at least 5 paragraph?
As for max, maybe 100 paragraph?
Well, I don't know whether this forum has max character for each post. If there is, then the max for a chapter should be that much.

    Hello,

I have recently posted a new story (it is actually completed but I won't post the whole things at once). However, I can change the first post to add the table of contents as it is considered a "spam-like behavior". Is it because I post too many chapters at once? Or is it because it is a new story so the moderators need time before making my story public?

No, It's because you joined today, your first postings are reviewed to ensure you are not a spam bot, give it some time, and if the story isn't considered spam, you'll see it posted eventually.
